Walters-Morgan Construction is a general contractor that specializes in building water and wastewater treatment plants throughout Kansas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska.  We have been in business for over 80 years and are continuing to grow, which is why we are looking for people like you to join our team!

Walters-Morgan Construction is currently looking to add another Heavy Equipment / Diesel Mechanic to our staff.  Primary location will be in Manhattan, KS in our new shop located by the airport, but will also require frequent travel to our project locations to perform service and repairs to construction equipment and company vehicles on an as-needed basis.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Assist shop foreman with maintenance and repairs as necessary for our construction equipment and company fleet.
  • Checking and replacing fluids, hoses, belts, starters, alternators, etc., as required.
  • Some welding and cutting with a torch may be required as needed.  Experience preferred.
  • Repair and replacements of electronic devices and controls, wiring harnesses, trailer lights and brakes, etc.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems and part/component failures.
  • Repair and replacement of tracks, buckets, hydraulic cylinders, brake systems, drive systems, bearings, axles, etc., on equipment such as skid loaders, wheel loaders, excavators, and cranes.

Requirements

  • Ideal candidate will be hard working and self-motivated.
  • Candidate will be able to read, listen, and follow directions accordingly.
  • Welding skills and running a torch are a plus.
  • Basic machine and tool knowledge is required.  Willing to train the right individual.
  • Ability to keep work area clean and organized is required.
  • Possessing a CDL is a plus.
  • Having your own tools is a plus, although not a requirement.
